DoT webinar warns 190 telecom staff about phishing and cyber fraud
It was held for National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

More than 190 telecom officials and industry staff attended a Department of Telecommunications webinar on cyber fraud, cyber attacks and basic cyber safety, held for National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
The session was run by the Telecom Cyber Security Incident Response Team (T-CSIRT) and opened by Director General Telecom Anil Kumar Gupta and Additional Director General Suresh Puri. Participants came from DoT headquarters, licensed service areas and telecom and internet service providers.
Experts covered social engineering, the "cyber kill chain", types of malware and common attacks on websites, with practical examples of how attackers work and how to spot them.
The advice was simple: watch for phishing and fraud attempts, be careful with links and attachments, update software on time and report incidents quickly. Officials said individual vigilance is the first line of defence as threats grow in scale and sophistication.
