A 46-year-old patient with impaired vision has had a corneal transplant at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Faridabad, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) said.
Doctors performed a Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP), the full-thickness corneal transplant, on 27 October 2026. The patient had visual impairment caused by corneal opacity. The surgery was done by Dr S. R. Singh, an eye surgeon, and his team.
Why it matters
ESIC calls the operation an important step in strengthening specialised ophthalmic services and in offering advanced care to its beneficiaries, the insured workers and their families who use ESIC facilities.
The release does not say how the patient is recovering, how many such operations the hospital has done, or whether the service will be expanded.
