Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the National Dope Testing Laboratory's Extramural Research Grant Policy on 3 November, saying "India has zero tolerance for doping".
He was chief guest at the 10th World Association of Anti-Doping Scientists (WAADS) Quality Assurance Managers' Meeting 2026 in New Delhi, which NDTL organised for two days from 2 November. He also saw the release of an NDTL newsletter.
What the policy is for
Mandaviya said the policy aims to promote research and development in advanced detection and prevention, strengthening the scientific foundation of anti-doping work. He linked education and awareness on doping to India hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games and its ambition to host the 2036 Olympics.
"Athlete education and doping prevention is our priority," the release quotes him as saying, adding that India's approach combines stronger testing infrastructure with education. The release gives no grant amounts.
