Indian Navy frigate INS Trishul ended a port call at Civitavecchia, Italy, on 28 October, part of its operational deployment in the Mediterranean.

During the visit the commanding officer called on the Italian Navy's Fleet Commander, and the crew visited the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour. The ship was opened to visitors from the Indian diaspora and local residents.

India's Ambassador to Italy, Vani Rao, and Vice Admiral Aurelio De Carolis, the Italian Fleet Commander, visited the ship and met its crew. They attended a cultural event on board with the Mayor of Civitavecchia, senior Italian Navy and Coast Guard officers and defence envoys from 13 nations.

The Defence Ministry said the visit reflected the maritime partnership between India and Italy. INS Trishul has moved on to the next phase of its deployment.
