The BJP won four and the Samajwadi Party (SP) two of the first six Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council seats to be declared, in elections for 11 graduates' and teachers' constituencies, News On AIR reported on 28 October.

A total of 152 candidates contested the 11 seats.

The six results declared

What these seats are

These are not assembly elections. The Legislative Council is the state's upper house, and these seats are elected by registered graduates and teachers, not the general electorate. The next Uttar Pradesh assembly election is due by 2027.

What we do not yet report

Results of the other five seats were still being counted when the six above were declared. We will add them once they can be confirmed from an official source. Vote figures were not given in the report.
