Aadhaar App passes 7.5 crore downloads as UIDAI signs up 300 verifying entities
Residents have made over 86 lakh mobile number updates through the app.

The Aadhaar App has been downloaded nearly 7.5 crore times, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) said, and 300 organisations have signed up to verify Aadhaar offline since the app's rollout in January.
UIDAI has onboarded 300 Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) across hotels and hospitality, healthcare, education, events, the gig economy and consumer-facing businesses. The authority described the process as consent-based and paperless, designed to minimise data collection in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
What residents use the app for
- Over 86 lakh mobile number updates
- 22.16 lakh address updates
- 40.25 lakh email updates
- 4.6 crore biometric lock/unlock transactions
- 3.61 lakh Aadhaar lock/unlock transactions
Biometric lock and Aadhaar lock features let a card holder add a layer of privacy at their own choice, UIDAI said. The updates are done on the phone, without visiting an Aadhaar centre.
The release does not say how many of the 300 entities are in each sector or when further onboarding will take place.
