The Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) say they cleaned around 8,000 sites across the country in Special Campaign 6.0.
The campaign covered record management, digitisation, plantation, scrap disposal, electronic-waste management and better use of office space. More than 13,000 physical and electronic files were weeded out. It generated over ₹14 lakh in revenue and freed more than 4,000 square feet of space.
Beyond the offices
Staff held awareness camps on cleanliness, and several campuses ran free medical camps. Cleaning drives covered farms, fields and roads around campuses, and metal and plastic waste was kept separate from general waste. Safai Mitras, the sanitation workers, were honoured, which the release calls a continuing practice.
The release says cleanliness achievements exceeded the targets set. It also lists best practices from ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management in Hyderabad, including turning used flowers into compost and vermicompost and making vehicle requisitions digital.
