Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada visited Poland on 2 and 3 November with a delegation of 12 Indian companies, to widen trade, investment and technology ties.

The visit followed Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's trip to India last month. The two countries' Strategic Partnership dates from 2024, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Poland.

Who he met

  • Krzysztof Gawkowski, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs: cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, data centres and cybersecurity.
  • Ignacy Niemczycki, Secretary of State in the Foreign Ministry: opportunities from the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, which the release says will come into effect "in the coming months". Prasada pointed to agri-tech and food processing and asked for more openings for small and medium enterprises.
  • Michal Baranowski, Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Technology: critical minerals, semiconductors and start-up partnerships. Prasada highlighted Make in India and the need for co-development and co-production with technology transfer.

Business forum

On 3 November Prasada gave the opening address at the India–Poland Business Forum at the Polish National Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw. He urged companies on both sides to use the India–EU agreement to expand market access and investment.

He also met Indian business leaders in Poland and potential Polish investors, and visited Transition Technologies, an IT and software firm, and WB Electronics, a defence company. Both have business interests in India.

The release does not mention any agreements or investment figures from the visit.
