Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate a two-day conference of chairpersons of Public Accounts Committees (PACs) from Parliament and the state and Union Territory legislatures in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, 3 November 2026.
The theme is "Audit, Accountability and Good Governance – The Evolving Role of the PAC". The Lok Sabha Secretariat said the meeting is a platform to share experiences and best practices and to explore ways to strengthen legislative oversight of public spending, transparency and financial discipline.
Who will be there
Keralam Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Keralam Assembly Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan are due at the inaugural session. K. C. Venugopal, chairperson of Parliament's PAC, will give the welcome address, and K. N. Balagopal, who heads the Keralam Assembly's PAC, will also speak. Deputy Speaker Shanimol Usman will propose the vote of thanks.
What happens next
The conference ends on Wednesday, 4 November, with a valedictory session addressed by Birla. The ministry said it expects discussion on challenges in public financial management and the changing audit landscape.
