Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday addressed the 'Shatabdi Samaroh 2026' in New Delhi, a centenary event of the Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Pariwar, and called the year one of "completeness" for Indian spiritual life.
The event marks 100 years since the birth of Mataji Bhagwati Devi Sharma and the manifestation of Akhand Jyoti. Union Minister Durgadas Uikey and Gayatri Pariwar head Dr Chinmay Pandya were among those present, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
What Shah said
Shah said three streams meet this year: 100 years of the Akhand Jyoti, of Mataji's birth, and of the sadhana of Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya. He said the flame lit a century ago has become a symbol of welfare for people in more than 100 countries and over 15 crore families.
He said that, in his own experience, the Gayatri Mantra is a path to complete transformation and not merely a ritual. He said it has helped many young people, and urged that its message be carried to the younger generation.
The Deep Mahayajna
Shah noted that the Gayatri Pariwar came together at a four-day conference in Haridwar in January. On Sunday, he said, the Deep Mahayajna was held, in which every lamp lit symbolises a resolve to use one's strength for society, spirituality and the nation.
He described the movement as a sacred duty for everyone to take forward. The statements on the mantra's effects are the minister's own views as reported in the release.
