A 26-year-old student from a rural farming family is studying artificial intelligence at Monash University in Australia with help from the National Overseas Scholarship, according to a Social Justice Ministry case study.

The student, identified as "Aarav Mane (name changed)", belongs to a Scheduled Caste family. The ministry says his family had limited resources and little guidance on studying abroad, and that rising tuition fees in later semesters, along with accommodation and living costs, added to the burden.

What the scholarship did

Through the National Overseas Scholarship he received financial assistance that helped him reach what the ministry calls a significant academic milestone, and it says the achievement has brought pride to his family and community. He aims to become an Artificial Intelligence Engineer.

The release does not give the amount of the scholarship. It is one person's story, not data on the scheme.
