The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked Aligarh's top officials for a report after a media report that two teachers at a private school were sexually abused.
The Commission took suo motu cognizance of the report, published on 3 November 2026. According to it, one teacher alleged she was sexually harassed over a long period by the school owner's brother, who threatened to have her removed when she objected. The other teacher reportedly faced similar harassment and was removed from service after she objected.
What the Commission did
The NHRC said the contents of the report, if true, raise serious human rights issues. It has issued notices to the Aligarh District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police, calling for a detailed report within two weeks.
The media report says the school management took no action on the complaints, and the teachers have asked the police chief for legal action. These are allegations; the release states no finding and does not report any response from the school or the accused.
