The Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare has set a target of over two crore Digital Life Certificates in its Nationwide DLC Campaign 5, and held a mega camp with the State Bank of India in New Delhi on 2 November.

Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma said face authentication now lets pensioners generate a Digital Life Certificate on a smartphone, without visiting a bank or office. She noted that SBI facilitated about 25 lakh such certificates in last year's campaign.

What SBI is doing

For this campaign SBI is running special camps in 115 cities and helping through its branches and support teams, with special arrangements at branches that have many pensioners.

Joint Secretary Dhrubajyoti Sengupta urged pensioners to use the facilities and to encourage others to go digital. The camp was held at the NDCC Convention Centre.
