India Post will verify Know Your Customer (KYC) details for UTI Mutual Fund investors at their doorsteps across the country, including in remote areas, under a renewed agreement signed in Mumbai on 29 October.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager at the Department of Posts, and Vetri Subramaniam, Managing Director and CEO of UTI Asset Management Company.

Under the Pan-India KYC Verification Project, India Post will use its postal network to complete KYC checks where investors live. An earlier joint initiative helped investors complete pending KYC requirements.

The two say the arrangement should make compliance easier and keep investors' mutual fund accounts running without interruption. The release does not mention any fee for the service.
