Anyone with a complaint about the rural employment scheme VB–G RAM G can now expect an answer within 15 days, under grievance rules notified by the Ministry of Rural Development.

The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026 set up a multi-tier mechanism at Gram Panchayat, block and district levels, to be run by State Governments. Designated Grievance Redressal Officers will receive, register, enquire into and dispose of complaints.

How to complain

Any person may complain about any matter connected with the scheme's implementation, in four ways:

  • in person before the designated officer;
  • by speed post, with proof of delivery;
  • through the Digital Public Infrastructure for grievance redressal designated by the Centre;
  • by telephone, helpline or any other mode the State Government decides.

Complaints received on paper must be entered on the digital system on the day of receipt or, if that is not possible, the next working day. The complainant gets an acknowledgement with a registration number, date and the receiving authority.

The release stresses that no grievance can be refused registration "on the grounds of its format, language, manner of submission or any procedural deficiency".

The clock

  • The enquiry must be completed within seven working days of receipt.
  • The complaint must be resolved within 15 days.
  • The officer may call for records and documents, and the complainant may be heard in person or electronically.
  • Findings and action taken are recorded online and told to the complainant, in physical form for paper complaints.

If it is not resolved

A complaint still pending after 15 days is escalated to the next higher level and monitored electronically until it is resolved. Appeals against orders will be filed and decided under Schedule I of the VB–G RAM G Act, 2025.

The ministry said the rules aim to make the process "more accessible, transparent and accountable".
