Social Justice Minister Dr Virendra Kumar inaugurated the 15-day Shilp Samagam Mela 2026 at Dilli Haat, INA, New Delhi, which runs until 15 November.
Organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the mela gives artisans and beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Safai Karamcharis and persons with disabilities a platform to market products. About 150 stalls show crafts and handloom under Bharat TULIP and Purple Fest. Its theme is "Prakash aur Parampara".
First joint Shilp Utsav
The minister said it is the first time the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities are holding the Shilp Utsav together. Participants get free stalls, travel expenses, daily allowance and transport of goods. More than 1,000 artisans have benefited from Shilp Samagam Melas since 2022, he said.
