The Textile Committee, a body under the Ministry of Textiles, has earned ₹4,38,444 from disposing of scrap during Special Campaign 6, the government's cleanliness and pending-matters drive, the ministry said.
The campaign runs from 2 to 31 October 2026, and focuses on cleanliness, record management, disposal of pending matters and sustainable practices in government offices.
What the committee did
- 2–9 October: record racks were cleaned and reorganised, files arranged for easy retrieval and obsolete material removed to free up space.
- 10–16 October: scrap, cardboard boxes, old cartons and unusable items were removed and disposed of as per procedure. Regional offices of the committee ran a similar drive.
- 17–23 October: packing material, waste plastic and remnant samples were cleared, earning the ₹4,38,444 from scrap.
The ministry said the exercise improved cleanliness, use of office space and record management, and that it is encouraging its other offices and organisations to take part. The release does not give figures for the quantity of scrap disposed of.
