The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended its New Amnesty Scheme 2025 by three months, giving employers and insured persons until 31 December 2026 to settle pending cases.
The scheme ran from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 and now continues from 1 October 2026 on the same terms. ESIC said it acted after reviewing representations from stakeholders.
What the scheme offers
It is a one-time dispute resolution initiative to reduce the backlog of court cases and improve compliance under the earlier ESI Act, letting employers settle legal disputes with ESIC out of court. Under it:
- ad-hoc assessments can be settled by paying the actual contributions and interest, with no damages;
- cases can be withdrawn where employers have already paid dues, on payment of 10% of the disputed damages;
- cases filed by ESIC for non-submission of records or delayed payment that were later complied with will be withdrawn with court permission;
- court cases filed up to 31 March 2025 are eligible.
ESIC said all stakeholders are "encouraged to make use of the extended window" before it closes on 31 December 2026. Details are in the scheme flyer on the ESIC website, esic.gov.in.
