The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, has been recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Skills in the agriculture sector by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
MSDE Secretary Debashree Mukherjee presented the certificate at a ceremony at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, on 2 November. The recognition is valid for three years.
MANAGE, founded in 1987 and run under the Agriculture Ministry, offers training, consultancy, research and policy support in agricultural extension, along with postgraduate diplomas in agri-warehousing, agricultural extension and agri-business management. The release says the empanelment will let it diversify into skilling.
Director General Sanjay Kumar Agarwal called it "a significant milestone" and said it brings "great responsibility" to raise programme standards.
Why it matters to the institute
The ministry says the recognition lets MANAGE strengthen its role in agricultural skill development and entrepreneurship, in line with the government's aim of building a skilled and entrepreneurial workforce. The idea for the empanelment was developed by a team of Dr K. C. Gummagolmath, Dr Veenita Kumari and Dr Shalendra under Agarwal's leadership.
